Happy New Year!

As you can see we've added a new member to our family.
Such a cutie and the biggest cheeks we've ever seen.
Here is one of her "big" sisters. I can tell she's going to be a big help
to Daddy!

Mom is doing well also. Fortunately Miss Viv is quite
the snuggler.

I haven't been around much because my sewing machine was taking
up all my time.
The girls all got 18" dolls for Christmas so I had to get
busy sewing up clothes for them.
Winter Capes were my patterns of choice as well as hats
to go with them.
I was at the Dollar Store at one point and found these cute little
bags that were intended for "gift cards" and thought they would be
perfect as a purse for the dolls.
Once I got going I also decided to add a little "bling" to their
outfits.
I think they were a hit.
Since I had made the red corduroy skirts for the older girls I thought
the dolls should also have them and decided to
add the blouses.
The party dress goes with the red cape.

Christmas is splitting time between both families. So Hubby and I spent the night at daughter & son-in-laws and were able to see the little ones
open their presents in the morning.
Actually the best part was the kids jumping into bed with us to tell us
Santa had come!!!!
And that he did......son-in-law made this beautiful dress-up rack
for the Princess of the house! She loved it!

The next big hit was the air hockey table!
The game is on between the Princess and the Jock!
Gotta love Christmas !
The rest of the day was spent with the kids in Ma. and unfortunately
I never got around to taking pictures.
The kids took up most of our time.

My thoughts and prayers go out to my "friends" that are battling health
problems and to those caring for them.
I hope that 2014 brings health and happiness to you.

p.s.....I did complete Father Christmas (my last hooking project)
but for some reason I can't seem to get  it uploaded here.
Will try again later.

Till we meet again.................
A bientot!

and I look forward to your "comments.

Thank You for your Service............................

I would like to take a minute to salute all those who served,
and a special Thank You to my husband who served in Viet Nam. For also
putting in for extra duty so that those with a family didn't have to.
I personally know what it was like for him returning... I was told
he was not
the same person he was when he left.
The Summer of '69 he returned was when I met him....
it wasn't till some 30 yrs later that someone who
was a guest at our Thanksgiving dinner table,
Thanked him!
He thanked her and with a heavy heart told her she was the first
to thank him! don't think there was a dry eye at that table.
So once again thank you all so much.

Back in September I hosted a family get-together for my Mom's side
of the family.
How sad that our lives have become so busy with everyday life
and we don't take the time to re-connect with those that we
grew-up with. When we were young it seems that the whole family
would get together at our Grandparents home or one of our Aunts & Uncles.
Holidays then seemed so chaotic but gosh we had fun.
I can remember all gathering around the dinner table for
Thanksgiving and having my grandfather pick a name out of a hat
to see who would get the legs. Of course, me being me, would cry if
I didn't get it so one of my Uncles would give one to me.
How I miss those days when I got everything I wanted.
hehehehehehehe! Just kidding.
ok, so I sort of got off tract here...back to my get-together.
I think we all enjoyed seeing each other again after so much time has passed.
I can't even begin to tell you how much it pleased me and my husband
to have them all here.
I felt bad for those who could not be here with us but
they were in our thoughts. Hopefully we can continue this tradition.

So a while back I told you about the little red corduroy skirts I made for the girls.
Well, I guess they were a hit. Their Mom sent me a picture
of them wearing them when they went out to dinner.

Love those faces!

What have these nimble hands been up to......you ask.
I was at my daughter's house a while back and she had a new wreath on her front door.
OMG! I exclaimed.....so darn cute. I've seen lots of these on Pinterest and thought
heck I can do that but of course she beat me to it.

So off I went to Michael's to buy the metal wreath and some burlap
and Voila!
How do you like it? Comments please.

So now for my latest endeavor. Yup, that's right I now have a NEW craft.
I took a hooking class and I am so "hooked"...hehehe sorry bout that, I couldn't resist.
I really do love it.
I've completed my first project.

This is my pillow. I am so happy with it.
When I brought it back to the shop to show my teacher
she gave me an A+...and said I earned a gold star.
That made me feel good....I can't remember Ever getting an A+
for anything!!!
My plans for the next project is a Santa that a friend gave me.
It comes from Encompassing Designs Hooked Rug patterns
in Nova Scotia, Canada.
I found their website and checked it out.....oh gosh I love so many
of their patterns....I see some patterns in my future!!

That's it for now and hope I you enjoyed this post and I have not
bored you to death.
I also want to thank those of you who have been "following" me
and those who send me comments. I so appreciate you.
I feel like I've made new acquaintances with some of you and I am thrilled
by that.
Please keep those comments and emails coming.

I bid you a Good Night.......................till we meet again.

Where did the summer go????

My my my...not sure what happened but I think I missed something. Fall seems to have creeped right in. I know that what little summer we did have I so enjoyed.

We had the pleasure of having family "cousins" spend time with us. Hubby and I enjoyed
getting to know them and for me to re-connect. Something we've missed for so many years.
Hopefully now we can spend more time with them.
It was so nice to introduce them to our little part of the world and have them enjoy it
as much as we do.
We feel so blessed.

What have I been up to!
Well I did get around to finishing the white cotton ragland sleeve sweater for Miss O.
My intention was for her to have it for the summer...but I sort of slacked off...but now its done.
Sorry, no pictures.........yet.

I did make a little red corduroy skirt for Miss A..hoping she would like it for school.
When she was here I showed it to her and Wow! she exclaimed....".Memere, I love it!!
But do you think you could put pockets on it...cause I LOVE pockets" she asks.
"Of course I could Honey...how about if I put heart pockets on? " Needless to say she was more than
excited.

So there you have it....fini, with heart pockets and all.
Now I'll be making another for sister Miss V.
I bought them each a cute little white jersey to go with it and I'm thinking white tights
would also go well.

QUILT
That's right I put a quilt together with a charm pack that I had purchased. I loved the colors.
But now that its done I'm thinking that I want to add more to it cause i'd like it a little bigger.
Not sure what to add though as I don't have any more of the fabric. My thought is to add some white
and then a few more fabric colors  around the border.
So if you have any suggestions I sure would appreciate the help.

EMBROIDERY
I'm working on a couple of needlework projects.
the first one is a wool applique wall hanging of a mermaid.
the project is created by

Not sure if you can see this clearly.
It's designed as either a tea cozy or a pincushion but I'm making a wall hanging.
I plan on putting it in the cottage.

This is going to be an easy project.....just what I like....instant  gratification
.
My other embroidery project is a seagull on a beach.
Pieces are all cut and placed on background fabric.
This kit was purchased @ CampWool in Kennebunk, Me.

I really like this one....and again I think it will go in the cottage.

Well, don't tell anyone but I'm signing up for a rug hooking class! Now don't say anything...I know I've been trying to avoid this as I really don't need another "craft" but I've been
really taken by some of the work I've seen and heard about.
It's all your fault.....you know who you are!

Last of all I want to say how thrilled I am to have hosted a family get-together.
I can't express how it made me feel to have my Aunts, Uncles and especially
my cousins join us for the day. I was thrilled beyond belief.
It truly was the best part of my summer.
Cousins, I love you all.

With that I will leave you for now..........
Bon Soire

A bientot.
ps...don't forget I love your visit and look forward to your comments.
All would appreciate more "followers"

Brrrrrrr!..........Coast of Maine...................pizza's

My my my it's been so cold here in the North East. Below 0* temperatures have kept us in. Way too cold to get out there. This is the first time I can remember seeing ice on the Webhannet River. It's been there all week and no sign of it going away none too soon.
My son came up today with my 2 granddaughters and we had a great time. Princess A always love to make english muffin pizzas with Memere. So of course that's what we did. Princess V has a dairy allergy therefore there's no cheese on hers so chose pickles instead......that's what it's all about....adding whatever they want.

That's how memories are made. They also ate chips dipped in ketchup....tastes like
french fries you know!!! These are known as "precious moments"

I had some leftover fabric from the nap mats that I made them and decided that their dolls or Teddy's needed them as well. When they came today that was their surprise.

Miss V was taking very good care of the baby doll and the Teddy....she is so precious. Love those two little girls soooo much.

Not sure if I mentioned it or not but since the first of the year Hubby has been busy creating a little spot into the eaves up-stairs so that we could gain a little more space. Well it's finally done and Miss A found it to be very relaxing. She had her blanket her teddy and her Ipad and layed back and did a little quiet time. I think it was a hit. Both the girls loved it.

This has been a very good day!
Love you girls!
Gotta get outta here and get my knitting needles clicking,
get into my jammies and hit my recliner.
So until we meet again.
stay warm.
Bon Soire a bientot.

Send some mail my way!

Purses for the girls.

Also thought I'd show you these cute little purses
I made for the girls.
They look rather large here but they're only 5" wide.
They liked wearing them around their neck.
Miss A exclaimed..."Look Memere, it fits just perfect!"
I added a pkg of tissues, a tiny notebooks and some
life savers!
Wow! What a treat.
By now they may be on a sugar -overload!

It's great to be that young!

Another summer comes to a close!

God Morning my friends! Bare with me as I have myself a little pity party. Yes, summer has come and gone once again. The summer ...
