Calling all Hookers!

Oh yes now that I've completed my first hooked project it's on to the second one. One of my friends gave me a couple of patterns that she had set aside and decided that she was not going to make them.....so perfect. It's a wonderful print by Encompassing Designs .....of course being new at this I knew nothing about it. I then went on to Google it and Oh my my! A whole new world has opened for me.!

The top shot is how the owner made it up....not really crazy bout the colors so I'm going to do something else with it...just .who do I think I am?! It'll be a challenge.
Also I've joined a Hooking group and went to my first meeting...what great fun, lots of really nice ladies. Because it's late in the year we were not privy to the fact that they were all bringing in Hooking articles to decorate a Christmas tree that would be on display at a tree lighting. How cute were these....hooked tree ornaments. These ladies are so talented.

I know you can't see the ornaments too well but trust me they are great. They also added some rug hooks that were hand painted and some cut strips as tinsel with wool roving as garland. I wish I had the time because I would surely have a tree like that in my house.

Look at this beautiful hooked purse. One of the ladies at the group made this..
I think it is just stunning. That sure is a lot of work. Yikes!
I do think I'd like to attempt one some of these days....what do you think?

I would like to take this time to thank a great lady that I've met through blogging. She's sent me some terrific directions on how to use "red dot" fabric used for drawing your own patterns on foundation fabric. My own designs are in my future!!
Thanks so much to Millie's Mom.

If some of you hookers are reading this I would love to know what kind of frame
you are using and why? I'm just using a hoop right now but would love to eventually
get a frame....I'd appreciate your help.

Hook-In
From what I understand there is a hook-in coming up the end of January
in Elliot, Me.
I've never been to one but sound interesting and am anxious to take part in it.

That's it for now...
Have a good night and sure hope to hear from you....

Till then.................

Thank You for your Service............................

I would like to take a minute to salute all those who served,
and a special Thank You to my husband who served in Viet Nam. For also
putting in for extra duty so that those with a family didn't have to.
I personally know what it was like for him returning... I was told
he was not
the same person he was when he left.
The Summer of '69 he returned was when I met him....
it wasn't till some 30 yrs later that someone who
was a guest at our Thanksgiving dinner table,
Thanked him!
He thanked her and with a heavy heart told her she was the first
to thank him! don't think there was a dry eye at that table.
So once again thank you all so much.

Back in September I hosted a family get-together for my Mom's side
of the family.
How sad that our lives have become so busy with everyday life
and we don't take the time to re-connect with those that we
grew-up with. When we were young it seems that the whole family
would get together at our Grandparents home or one of our Aunts & Uncles.
Holidays then seemed so chaotic but gosh we had fun.
I can remember all gathering around the dinner table for
Thanksgiving and having my grandfather pick a name out of a hat
to see who would get the legs. Of course, me being me, would cry if
I didn't get it so one of my Uncles would give one to me.
How I miss those days when I got everything I wanted.
hehehehehehehe! Just kidding.
ok, so I sort of got off tract here...back to my get-together.
I think we all enjoyed seeing each other again after so much time has passed.
I can't even begin to tell you how much it pleased me and my husband
to have them all here.
I felt bad for those who could not be here with us but
they were in our thoughts. Hopefully we can continue this tradition.

So a while back I told you about the little red corduroy skirts I made for the girls.
Well, I guess they were a hit. Their Mom sent me a picture
of them wearing them when they went out to dinner.

Love those faces!

What have these nimble hands been up to......you ask.
I was at my daughter's house a while back and she had a new wreath on her front door.
OMG! I exclaimed.....so darn cute. I've seen lots of these on Pinterest and thought
heck I can do that but of course she beat me to it.

So off I went to Michael's to buy the metal wreath and some burlap
and Voila!
How do you like it? Comments please.

So now for my latest endeavor. Yup, that's right I now have a NEW craft.
I took a hooking class and I am so "hooked"...hehehe sorry bout that, I couldn't resist.
I really do love it.
I've completed my first project.

This is my pillow. I am so happy with it.
When I brought it back to the shop to show my teacher
she gave me an A+...and said I earned a gold star.
That made me feel good....I can't remember Ever getting an A+
for anything!!!
My plans for the next project is a Santa that a friend gave me.
It comes from Encompassing Designs Hooked Rug patterns
in Nova Scotia, Canada.
I found their website and checked it out.....oh gosh I love so many
of their patterns....I see some patterns in my future!!

That's it for now and hope I you enjoyed this post and I have not
bored you to death.
I also want to thank those of you who have been "following" me
and those who send me comments. I so appreciate you.
I feel like I've made new acquaintances with some of you and I am thrilled
by that.
Please keep those comments and emails coming.

I bid you a Good Night.......................till we meet again.

Where did the summer go????

My my my...not sure what happened but I think I missed something. Fall seems to have creeped right in. I know that what little summer we did have I so enjoyed.

We had the pleasure of having family "cousins" spend time with us. Hubby and I enjoyed
getting to know them and for me to re-connect. Something we've missed for so many years.
Hopefully now we can spend more time with them.
It was so nice to introduce them to our little part of the world and have them enjoy it
as much as we do.
We feel so blessed.

What have I been up to!
Well I did get around to finishing the white cotton ragland sleeve sweater for Miss O.
My intention was for her to have it for the summer...but I sort of slacked off...but now its done.
Sorry, no pictures.........yet.

I did make a little red corduroy skirt for Miss A..hoping she would like it for school.
When she was here I showed it to her and Wow! she exclaimed....".Memere, I love it!!
But do you think you could put pockets on it...cause I LOVE pockets" she asks.
"Of course I could Honey...how about if I put heart pockets on? " Needless to say she was more than
excited.

So there you have it....fini, with heart pockets and all.
Now I'll be making another for sister Miss V.
I bought them each a cute little white jersey to go with it and I'm thinking white tights
would also go well.

QUILT
That's right I put a quilt together with a charm pack that I had purchased. I loved the colors.
But now that its done I'm thinking that I want to add more to it cause i'd like it a little bigger.
Not sure what to add though as I don't have any more of the fabric. My thought is to add some white
and then a few more fabric colors  around the border.
So if you have any suggestions I sure would appreciate the help.

EMBROIDERY
I'm working on a couple of needlework projects.
the first one is a wool applique wall hanging of a mermaid.
the project is created by

Not sure if you can see this clearly.
It's designed as either a tea cozy or a pincushion but I'm making a wall hanging.
I plan on putting it in the cottage.

This is going to be an easy project.....just what I like....instant  gratification
.
My other embroidery project is a seagull on a beach.
Pieces are all cut and placed on background fabric.
This kit was purchased @ CampWool in Kennebunk, Me.

I really like this one....and again I think it will go in the cottage.

Well, don't tell anyone but I'm signing up for a rug hooking class! Now don't say anything...I know I've been trying to avoid this as I really don't need another "craft" but I've been
really taken by some of the work I've seen and heard about.
It's all your fault.....you know who you are!

Last of all I want to say how thrilled I am to have hosted a family get-together.
I can't express how it made me feel to have my Aunts, Uncles and especially
my cousins join us for the day. I was thrilled beyond belief.
It truly was the best part of my summer.
Cousins, I love you all.

With that I will leave you for now..........
Bon Soire

A bientot.
ps...don't forget I love your visit and look forward to your comments.
All would appreciate more "followers"

Here I am again......................

Yes, yes, yes I'm back! Not sure what the heck was going on but I didn't feel as though I had anything worth while to blog about.

I have been busy though
First of all we've finally completed the cottage up-grades.
Remember a while back I posted some pictures of the start of the project.
Now we are ready for vacationers and family.

I think everything came out really nice and very happy with the results.

We are especially happy with the bathroom...a much needed improvement..
and also the back sitting room with the glass slider.
It is now so nice and bright and can take full advantage of the view in the back.
I never tire of that view!

Also this week my two oldest granddaughters graduated from pre-school.
How much I love those two.

So cute and I was happy to be able to share it with them.

My husband finally made it to Washington DC this Memorial Day.
something he's been trying to put together for about 3 yrs now.
He rode his motorcy
cle and did the run with Rolling Thunder.
He also did see the Viet Nam Wall
a very emotional trip for him.
I'm so happy he finally got to take this trip.
"One and done" was what he said when he got back.

I also want to let you in on a new blog that I found....
and I just love it.
they have a great little project that I can't wait to try....like I need another one!!!
Check it out.

Gotta run...
till we meet again......

Works in progress.......

Here we are another stormy weekend...
When will this end? And now they're saying another
storm mid-week.
Gotta love living in New England.

Had a nice surprise visit from the kids and my favorite little "twinkies".
It was like a storm blew through here but I love it.
I think you've heard me say before I just can't get enough of them.

Here is a picture that little Miss "O" staged.

She got both Baby and Teddy together and said " Memere need take picture."
A buddy photographer.
She's quite the gal.

My Works in Progress.
Sometimes I think I'm a little ADD cause I get antsy with a project
and then get on to something else.
I've been working on a couple of things...
an embroidery design for one of my little girls.
I plan on framing it, maybe a little white frame so they can put
it in their room.
I really like this little girl. This is actually my second one,
the first one I ruined after all the work went into it.
And absolutely cannot use it.
Also making my little "Buddy" a sweater.
I love this pattern.
If you're interested it's from
YankeeKnitterDesigns pattern #21.
I've also started on the Easter Bunny Wool Mat.
The pattern is from
Wool & Whimseys.

I don't mind telling you....that's a lot of work.
It took me most of the morning to just cut out all the pieces
and place them on my wool.

I really like the colors .
As you can see this is only one half.
I get to do this all over again for the other part.

I'm a little anxious to get on with the embroidering part.
I like that part as it's starting to come together.
Any thoughts on this is welcomed.

Family visit!
I'd like to end this post by saying I had a great little visit
with a cousin this week. I know I go by his business
fairly often and don't take the time to stop in to say Hi!
but this week I was determined to do so.
It was great....
How did we ever get so busy that we don't take the time for this?
I'd like to change it.....and I just might.
So BEWARE Cousins..you never know who I'll
stop in to visit next!.

That's it for tonight..
Till we meet again.

Bon Soire et Bientot!

Sweets.........sweets........sweets.

Yes, today is all about
 sweets.
I had my little Valentine get together on Saturday
and my sweet little grandchildren
were here to celebrate.

I wanted to make it special for them so I got the decorations out
and got them set out.
I had some fun things ready for them.

Lunch was pizza that I formed into hearts and  let them
top their own.
It was a bit messy but they had a great time.
Lots of pepperoni and abundance of cheese!

So how sweet are those pizzas!
Oh yes and they had salad with little heart cucumbers which
they love!
After dinner we made some heart necklaces and
they did such a good job.
Of course they included one for Grammie and one for Memere.

These little people bring so much joy to my life
I can't get enough of them!

And now for the other Sweet thing!
OMG!
I now know that I did see it before on my girl Cathy's blog
but didn't know what it was.
Boy I sure do now and Love it!
If you're not familiar with it be sure to check it out on line.

The directions are
1 box of DH Angel Food Cake
1 box of any other cake mix
(I used Triple Chocolate Decadent Cake)
it also contained a pkg of fudge mix.
You mix both boxes of cake mixes together in a large bowl or plastic bag
then you take 3 tbs. of dry cake mix
2 tbs of water and mix thoroughly in a small ramekin or mug
and microwave for 1 min.
Soo good.
Because the other cake mix I used had some fudge mix with it
I added a teaspoon to the cake.
I didn't mix it or anything I just dropped it in there.
It was so good and gooey.
Can't wait to try this again.
I sure hope I explained it ok.
Just drop me a line if you didn't get it.
Now I'm also a real fan of Nutella
so I'll bet a spoonful of that would be scrumptious.

Well that's it for all the sweets for today.
Hope everyone is staying warm and getting your craft on!

Till we meet again....
Bon Soire
A Bientot.....

Hearts....hearts and more hearts.

I don't really have much to post today
but I did want to take this opportunity to wish everyone
a Happy Valentine Day.

Not sure what all this crap is about but...whatever!
I'm having the family over on Saturday so we can have a little
celebration...mostly for the kids.
I'm planning on having a pizza party for them.
Making the pizza out of the large english muffins.....that's because
Little Miss "V" has a food allergy and the muffins are what she can eat.
So I'll shape them into hearts and then they can add the sauce and toppings
of their choice.

Also going to make cupcakes and other goodies.
I'll cut out a bunch of paper hears and some straws and they can string them
on yarn to make heart necklaces. I think they'll enjoy that.
Not sure what I'll make for the grown-ups to eat
I guess I'll have to give that some thought.

Both my children will be here with their families and I am soo
looking forward to that. The little ones don't get to
see each other often...so this will be a big treat for them.

Again I'd like to send out a big thank you to you my visitors..
you guys are the best.

I wish you all a great day.
So till we meet again.....

A Bientot!

Hearts all around with lots of LOVE.

Happy Day to you all! I'm a bit late with these wishes.... hope your day was sweet. Hubby still not up and about much so when I was out ...
