STAY HOME! Stay safe!

It saddens me to think  they've had to resort to closing down the local beaches. So many people out and about! STAY HOME!

A friend on fb asked for posts that would put a smile on faces. So i went out to my garden and took pictures of what makes me smile. 

These rocks are a few I painted a while back. The sun was out that day so together i sure did smile.

I'm still doing some watercolour painting. Trying a few different ideas. I follow #creationsceecee on youtube. Her work is amazing and she is such an inspiration.

I really enjoyed these butterflies so i plan on doing more.

Another day another post.

I am finally feeling better. This bronchitis has broken up and a lot less coughing.

The Island Queen by Julia Older krpt me busy these kadt few days and i must ssy a really good read. Who knew that Mrs. Thaxter (Celia) was carrying on an affair with John Greenleaf Whittier! Wow...and the murder on Appldore Island. Shocking!

Now to continue reading Ninety Years at the Isles of Shoals, Oscar Laighton.

Yesterday my intention was to bake a maple walnut cake. However after going through the list of ingredients that was not going to happen. On my next venture out to Hannaford i'll get them but instead made a batch of oatneal raisin walnut cookies.  Yum

 My current art fascination is with watercolour. I've been watching tutotials on YouTube. Here is my current work in progress. Butterflies and doodles.

I've slso been posting dome of my work on Instagram.

give it another try

I hope to get this blog started once again. 

Just brewed a cup of my favorite tea  (this week that is). Now to get started.

I feel like all of you do very nervous about this covid19 and being overly cautious. I've washed my hands about a 100 times. But i have a question for you....if you have to pee and blow your nose when should you wash your hands? Before and after? 

So i am maintaining my sanity by doing some reading...

This was a gift from my favorite "Roomie ". A novel about Celia Thaxter set against the wonderful Isles of Shoals. Good read.

Going to leave you here so i can determine if this will work.

Tired of Winter!!

Seriously!? Is anyone else as tired of winter as I am??

Of course you are....we all are.
I don't mean to sound insensitive
i know others have had worse devastation here
and all along the coast. The power of water in incredible.
So to those who have lost property my heart goes out to you.

Well now that all this sickness has left this house,
that's right the flu and then the shingles
i am now back to my hobbies.
A small group of us get together at our LWS
to visit and so some hooking. Feels good to be back at it.
I am working on my Cottage rug but did not get the chance to get
a shot of my progress. Will do that next time.
I am however working on some needle punch projects.
I want to show you what I've come up with for my frame.

What i did was add it to an extra lazy susan that i was no longer using.
It works fabulously. I can set it either on my lap or on a table and punch away.
Now i'd like to come up with something i can add beneath the frame to hold some of
my threads and other supplies.
Now my brain is working!

Now on to my next project.

Well I'm looking forward to our next hooking retreat.
Hope to meet up with new friends and get loads of hooking done.

From the Heart!

After popping back here for a look

i realize my last time was when i was when i was getting

ready to head back out to Star Island.

My Gosh! What a magical place!

Leave it all behind and reflect on all the good in my life!

I am so blessed to have my "Roomie" by my side.

She will never know how much her friendship means to me!

Speaking of friends, I feel that I have made life-long friends from this new

endeavor of mine. RugHooking has introduced me to such wonderful ladies.

Aside from being Creative, Artistic, Talented, they ALL are

very giving, caring and sharing with both ideas and their time.

You know who you are ladies!!

I have so many wonderful pictures from our retreat i only wish i could

This is The Art Barn and at some point I would love to hook it.

Also at some point I would love to make a photo book of my

time spent at this retreat.

My bags are packed and I'm ready to go!

Busy...Busy...Busy! That's right this summer was jam packed with family, friends, food and fun. I guess you could say the 4 F's. (Hehehehe). Hubby and I loved all of it.

It started out with days spent with the grandkids.

Always such a joy to have them around.
Always so much fun.

Then a visit from relatives from the DC area.
Lot's of laughs!

Visit from my surrogate son

and friends.

Summer Camp at Riverhurst Farm

where I got to spend hours playing and horseback riding.

I've never had the opportunity to attend a Summer Camp so this was my first time!

Would you believe me if I said 

I will be back!

Also I had the pleasure of introducing my son to some of the horses

at the stables. Here he is with Mejia. (sp)

Debra her owner was so kind and answered lots of question from my very

inquisitive son.

I'd love to get him on one and come for a ride with me!

My young friends here accompanied me and as you can see
fell in love with these girls.

My niece was here from Santa Cruz and spent the day with us.
We had a great visit with her and Di.

Later another great day was  spent with some old friends.
Haven't  seen them in years.
Not sure why i don't have a picture of Joyce and Donna

From grade 1 till now!
That's a long time.

Labor Day Weekend was spent with family and friends.

A fabulous way to spend the closing of summer.

As I said on top of this post....

My bags are packed and I'm ready to head out to the 

Isles Of Shoals

for our annual Rug Hooking Retreat.

This is going to be a much needed week

to relax and meet up with some new friends.

I'll get back here as soon as i have the time to download my week in pictures.

more snow days....more projects

 Snow days...snow days.

I sure hope this weather comes to a halt sometime soon

because...

these snow days are not good for my heath!

First I made a huge pot of chicken stew with lots of veggies

a very hearty meal.

Decided it needed something special to dip into

so i made a batch of biscuits. 

The next day i made homemade

pizza with onions red peppers and bacon bits.

(Thanks for that Miss Jones...its your fault!)

The following day i needed something sweet so I made a

cranberry orange nut bread.

The real reason for this bread was that I didn't want to be out done by

my girl over at Acorn Hollow!

A while ago one of my knitting friends came over to show me that her son

had bought her a set of wood sock blockers.

Oh My! What a nice gift! Have always wanted a set

for my home made socks.

After looking at them I decided that I could make a set myself.

That's right...you know what's coming next!

I brought the project to my husbands attention and it just so happens he had some extra

plywood in the basement. So between the both of us we made a template and

he cut out the wood.

Sanding, sanding and more sanding i was able to get the feel that I wanted.

I had some leftover urathane that would work perfect.

Next came fine steele wool and lots of elbow grease.

I love how they came out.

What do you think? 

Now I can block all my special socks...like these below.

Wondering why they don't match?

Well they do in a way. I used all my leftover yarn from other projects.

So in a way they do...just not identical!

Got a surprise visit from our Summer neighbors yesterday.

Thought they would check on the amount of snow we have up here.

It was great to see them and turned out to be a big help.

While the guys did some snow shoveling and cleaning up

us girls went up to the center so we could watch the roaring sea.

Oh yea...on to another project....

well I came across these little needle felting kits that I bought

quite a while ago. It was time to take them out and give it a shot.

I've done some needle felting but nothing like this..

I really like how it came out. I think I want to design more and use as gifts.

One of the nice things about this project is instant gratification.

It works up fast and voila..finished.
